I fell in love with the Teddybears at Detour Festival and I finally bought their latest CD - “SOFT MACHINE” (it’s available in vinyl too- very Euro/old school) . Not all of the songs on the CD are homeruns, but the songs I liked live sound great in a studio too. The band is just so fun live, [...]

As I’ve been walking White Dog more and more (4x a day, 1/2 hr to 45 min per walk) I’ve started checking out new areas. One day I went south from Little Tokyo (I think Little Tokyo is technically 3rd St. and north) and I went down 4th St. between Los Angeles and Central. What [...]

There’s been a lot of buzz about this restaurant in the downtown blogging community - the anticipation of it’s opening centered around jokes about it’s rather funny name (”I want my ‘gina!”, etc. was heard often). Many bloggers joined for a dinner shortly after the restaurant opened and it seemed that everyone enjoyed the food and [...]

This “Stop The War” protest took place just 6 weeks after a similar one. The last one attracted approximately 150-200 protesters; this one did slightly better, but was not worth the resources the city spent to block off streets and to provide security, etc.
At 11:10 am I took Isis for a walk and ran into [...]

Look at what she did to the “soft” toys I bought her- both had polyester fill splling all over within 10 minutes. And in 30 min., she had the “squeaky” out of the cat (who’s shirt says “Chew Me”- that’s like bringing dynamite to a campfire with my girl.
More pics tomorrow of the other toys [...]

It’s been a little over a week since my first dog “ccnsultation” from Dave of Walk Fido, and I’ve been practicing his techniques on walking Isis to get her to “heal”- not pull ahead. And then there is the stuff like sitting at stop lights and waiting for my command to go, and letting me [...]

…But I don’t know anything about it. At about 11pm a huge crowd of bicycles, at least 3 blocks long and packed tight, came zipping past my window, heading east on 2nd St. It sounded like they were having a great time, lots of noise, but they were gone in 30 sec. or so.
Does anyone [...]

Previously I had complained how the Liquor Store in Weiland Court had carded me (after months of shopping there, some clerk decided to make an example of me).
Yesterday I was getting my hair cut by Don Ho of Don’s Hair Salon in New Otani Hotel. He’s a 60-ish Japanese gentleman and he tells me they [...]

Just since yesterday, they started framing-out (or whatever you call it in iron) another story on the building- and now it’s triangular top floor(s) are apparent in the right rear. I’ll get some pics from other side as I walk Isis in next few days, showing how the building sits on the block.
There went any [...]

Well, the “fake” ones for sure. 2 weeks ago they filmed “24″ directly under my window on an alley and did 3 takes with machine gun fire. I think it’s cool but lately Isis doesn’t - she goes on a barking frenzy (my old dogs would just want to hide… Isis is so protective and [...]
