Detour Festival Rocked!
The LA Weekly Detour Festival was an amazing event in my eyes, and run very smoothly, with no complaints at all from someone who lives 1 block away.
Amazingly, at 8pm Friday night workers started to arrive to set up stages and booths, creating little turmoil on downtown streets. I was not sure they could pull it off, but by 6 am Saturday they had a 2 block perimiter fenced off, with dozens of tents set up with electricity and 4 stages complete with lighting and sound. They were doing lighting checks as it was still dark out, and I could tell I was in for some fun as the lights were bouncing off the surrounding buildings to great effect.
More on the days happenings later; I’m up at 6 am again to walk the dog and going to crash for awhile then compile my videos; I didn’t get any of bands at night, but there should be some good event pics. Oh, and when walking the dog, EVERYTHING had been torn down already and streets re-opened. I saw a few city workers cleaning up the tons of flyers, etc left over from hand-outs, and street sweepers were just completing their circuits around city hall. I was really expecting to see crews still taking down stages, etc.
FWIW- The Moving Units, Teddybears and Satellite Party were amazing and made complete fans out of me and my date. I will be buying their CDs today or tomorrow.
Stay tuned…
