Bike Ride Friday Night Drew Huge Crowd…
…But I don’t know anything about it. At about 11pm a huge crowd of bicycles, at least 3 blocks long and packed tight, came zipping past my window, heading east on 2nd St. It sounded like they were having a great time, lots of noise, but they were gone in 30 sec. or so.
Does anyone know what this was? It seemed kind of like a “renegade” bike ride as I didn’t see any escorts or street closures, etc. I will research this, but add a comment if you have an idea what it was.

Midnight Ridazz. Check out their website for more. They’re one of the most absurd and ridiculously amazing things I’ve ever done in LA.

Downtown living never ceases to suprise me, amaze me, and stimulate me.
October 27th, 2007 at 3:12 pmi look forward to seeing the midnight ridazz on friday nights, they seem to go past our loft on most of their rides. their dada ride was especially fun, they seemed to be going in circles around us. one of these days, as soon as i get my hello kitty bicycle and a basket for wonton to ride in, we’re going to join them.
October 28th, 2007 at 5:36 pmHi Celia- I was blown away by the bike riders- it was so cool! But they all seemed to be moving pretty fast, have you done one of their rides before?
I don’t have a bike but I want to get one just for these “midnight rides”- or maybe we can just do “midnight dog walks” (I do frequently and they are always interesting with an adrenaline rush).
I’m looking forward to meeting you, Jim, Wonton, and all the other http://www.blogdowntown.com folks- I think I might be living downtown for a long time…

October 28th, 2007 at 9:09 pmPeople with all kinds of bikes do Ridazz. Some rides are faster than others, but they try to stick to the motto “No Ridazz left behind” and keep it leisurely. It’s not something you have to be an in shape bike rider to keep up with.
Celia: The Dada ride did circles around everything. At one point we circled the Biltmore block and caught our own tail at 6th/Grand. I think we did that stretch of 5th from Olive to Grand at least four times.
