Thanksgiving On Skid Row

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving- I was feeling a little depressed.  Holidays and injuries some times do that to me.  My shoulder is still screwed up (dislocated again) so I’m going to just rest until Monday- eat a lot and sleep a lot!

The homeless guy I was going to take to buffet ended up smelling EXTREMELY bad on Wednesday before Thanksgiving so I decided that was not a not good idea to take him to buffet at New Otani Hotel (I had not asked him previously, I was going to surprise him as I see him every day).

I did walk Isis through Skid Row on Thanskgiving- what a nightmare.  I went about 11 am thinking it would not have food lines, etc but streets already were shut down and I had to turn around multiple times as it was not “dog friendly”.  But I did talk to some cool people and saw a few familiar faces that Joe had introduced me to.

It definitely was a media-frenzy and the mayor was speaking when I was near (but I got chased away because of my dog).  It was sad that security was so tough as I walked past the food line at The Mission and stopped and spoke with anybody that wanted to say “hi” to Isis- especially children.  Then the security would tell me I could not procede, and I had to retreat.  I kind of figured it would be that way, but I wanted to go and try to spread joy to as many as I could with my dog.

I hope Christmas will be a little more low-key, but I doubt it.
