More Bad Drivers…

I heard Adam Corolla (radio host on 97.1 KLSX mornings) rant about drivers that do not make a right turn on red- how they are creating traffic congestion with not turning when they are allowed to, clogging up the cars behind them.

Then I realized that as a pedestrian, I also am bothered by these people that don’t understand basic traffic laws.  I will be standing at a red light, ready to cross when it turns green, and there will some jackass at the red light, on my side of street, wanting to make a right turn and not doing it when the cross traffic is gone, and there is no “No Right Tunr On Red” sign.  Then when light changes to “Walk” for me, green for him, he tries to jump out in front of me and glares at me like I’m the idiot not obeying the rules.

I think there should be Public Service announcements on radio and TV on how to turn right on red (and turning left from a one way to a one way).

Oh, and the converse is also a problem- someone wanting to make a right turn and getting aggressive and blocking the crosswalk when clearly there is not a break in cross traffic until the light changes.  Just the other day I saw a pedestrian deliberately walk into the side of a Mercedes SL that was in the crosswalk- I smiled, but was waiting for a gun to be pulled in an act of road rage.

I can’t understand how such a simple concept like turning right on red can be so misunderstood.
