Hancock - The Movie Trailer

The trailer for the Will Smith movie I saw filmed in front of my place is out now, but the movie will not be out until July… lots of CG work still I guess.  But this actor is on fire with “I Am Legend” ($76.5 million - largest opening in December) and I am looking forward to Hancock after watching the trailer.  I have total respect for what must be one of hardest working actors around.

MY ORGINAL POST ABOUT HANCOCK FILMING

WATCH THE TRAILER  (It may not be apparent- but he is an alcoholic super hero - sounds kind of stupid but appears to work).

If you enjoyed “I Am Legend” and while you are waiting for “Hancock” to be released there are a few vintage sci-fi films, available on video you might want to check out. All three feature downtown Los Angeles prominently. Watch out for your building and get a chance to see what your neighborhood looked like in previous eras.

“Omega Man” 1971 This “Grindhouse” inflected flick starring Charlton Heston was based on the novel “I Am Legend” and features great shots of Bunker Hill after it was razed for Community Redevelopment and before the construction of the glass and steel skyscrapers was completed.

“Them!” 1954 A great Cold War era fim reflecting the fear of atomic energy as gigantic irradiated ants terrorize Los Angeles after establishing a colony in the sewers beneath the streets. James Whitmore stars and there are some fine cameo performances which make for a few truly creepy scenes even when viewed today.

“War of the Worlds” 1953 A little(?) on the hokey side but it features a demonstration of the classic (pre CGI) special effects with the destruction of City Hall by the Martian machines.

If you haven’t seen these before, try to get your hands on them and give them a view.

    Happy Holidays!

Thanks Dennis- I’ll reactivate my Netflix as it’s a good time to be watching movies for me. I saw a few of your posts on other sites- are you a blogger too?

    And Happy Holidays to you,

    Eric
