Getting My “Metrosexual” On…

Ok, I’ll admit that I like getting manicures and pedicures.  I honestly cannot file my own nails because the feeling drives me crazy (but someone else can file them).  I like having short fingernails for typing, and I hate putting holes in my socks when my toenails get too long.  So one of the first things I did when I moved downtown was look for a good nail salon.  After trying a couple of places, I have become a regular at Nail Service, 244 E. 1st St  (213) 626-0315.  Emily is the owner, but all of her employees do amazing work.  The place is very clean and relaxing- great “spa” massage chairs for pedicures.  The best part is that you can ask for extra hand or feet massage for $1/minute, which I usually do for 10-15 minutes.  A great way to relax a little in the middle of the day.

I also feel lucky to have found a reasonably priced hairstylist that is also fun to talk to for the hour or so appointment.  His name is Don Ho, and he owns Don’s Hair Salon, 120 S Los Angeles St (213) 687-4461 (in the Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens- formerly New Otani).  He charges me $35 and I think it is worth it (I don’t color my hair to get rid of gray that’s starting to come… if I was a true metrosexual I guess I would).

Saturday was so relaxing- after workout, get haircut and pedicure / foot massage.  You should try it some time…
