I’m Back To Blogging…
Well, it’s been over 6 weeks since my last post- I wish I could tell you’ve I’ve been busy doing cool, exciting things since my last post, but I haven’t. On Feb. 1st I made a pact with myself to get in great shape for summer; this is kind of an annual event for me, but this year I wanted to work extra hard as I have all the tools: a great, convenient gym (LAAC), an elliptical in my loft, and I have a dog to walk frequently.
I switched to making all my own meals so I could log calories and macronutrients (not so much meals as tuna pouches, cottage cheese, nuts, and lots of protein shakes). And no alcohol.
My schedule was pretty boring: walk dog, workout, walk dog, work, cardio, walk dog, sleep, repeat…
So there wasn’t much new in my life as I did not attend any events for past 6 weeks, and even canceled a date as I thought it would screw up my schedule. I exercised and ate like a machine- food was not for taste, but only for meeting my daily protein/carb/fat requirements.
Now I have adjusted to this schedule and am ready to start writing again- I didn’t have the energy up until recently. Stay tuned for more of my experiences, observations, and rambling about life downtown with White Dog (Isis).
wow, you’re so disciplined! okay, if you can do all that, then you’ve inspired me to return to the gym. whatever it is i do, i’m sure it’ll pale in comparison to your workouts, but i have to start somewhere, right?
March 17th, 2008 at 6:01 pmHi Celia- you have to remember I have a little more motivation being single, and wanting to avoid getting mistaken for a whale at the beach
Dog walks are a good start- I’m sure Wonton makes a great walking partner. And FYI- if you are interested, Los Angeles Athletic Club has great deal for people w/ downtown address- initialtion is usually $2500 but is $200 for us. Very low-key club w/o teeny-boppers and not a huge fashion show, etc.
Good luck getting “back in the groove”, and I hope I run into you, Jim and Wonton soon.

March 17th, 2008 at 6:17 pmEric… I’m an LAAC member… I haven’t really gone much at all since getting married 4 months ago… but I seriously have to get in shape. When do you go?
March 23rd, 2008 at 9:59 amHey DT Guy-
Ah yes, the “marriage” thing- I’ve seen it cause lots of folks to lose interest in working out- congratulations on your marriage but don’t let it stop you from being healthy and fit.
Right now I’m going to LAAC from 9am - 10am daily for just weights. I don’t know a lot of people there, but you may know Dante or John. They are 76 and 84 years old and motivate me as they are doing pretty good for their age.
If you feel like it, drop me a line at isis_hb@yahoo.com as it would be nice to meet another member and downtown dweller.
