Walking Downtown + IPod = Excellent!!!
I love listening to music, and I use an IPod when I workout, but I was always afraid to use it when walking around as I wanted to be aware of people/bikes/skateboards coming up behind me, and did not want to be distracted.
Yesterday I decided to wear IPod home from gym and WOW! did the blocks fly by! So then around lunch I decided to wear it while I walk White Dog- that was great too- I can hear most of the sounds behind me that I need to, and I walk fast enough that no one walking passes me so I don’t have that issue.
But yesterday was an exceptionally “mystical” walk- actually 2 of them. In middle of walk, at about noon exactly, clouds rushed in and opened up in a downpour while I was quite aways from home. I still had my sweaty gym clothes on so getting wet did not bother me, and I had on my rose-tinted sunglasses, which give everything a cool aura, and I kept them on during rain. I felt like I was in the middle of a music video- tunes cranking in my head, Isis tugging at her leash, big raindrops hitting us as we made our way, watching all the lunch-time lawyers and courthouse folk scramble for cover as they tried to stay dry in their search for food. I was just smiling…
And at 6pm, I go for another walk- with IPod, and this time it started to sprinkle too- but the sun was still out- beautiful! I could find the rainbow but I’m sure there was one.
From now on the IPod is a permanent addition to my walking gear- it makes the time and miles seem irrelevant as I rock out and exist in my own little world…
i wear my ipod constantly. on the bus, on my bike ride, i listen to it in my car, i watch movies on it.. it’s the best thing ever.
I’m pretty anal about keeping in perfect. I hate getting scratches on it. So i always have it in a sleeve or a protective cover… however, the other day i came across this awesome website.. called unique skins. basically you can upload any image and create your own ipod skin. Not only does it look great and provides excellent protection for your ipod but its also pretty cheap!
Here’s my Ipod

very cool skin- I didn’t really know you could do that. Actually, I have an old IPod, but I use these little 1GB MP3 players that I bought a handful of for $9.95 each- they take 1 AAA battery and have FM radio, and are very small. They are so cheap they are almost disposable, but do what I want them to do.
“Listen in car”- did you hear that, Central Division Officer?

i dont have my ear plugs in.. i have this nifty little adapter thing that allows my to hear the songs on my ipod through the radio.
geez.. i know the rules.
and when i’m riding my bike i only have one earplug in.
May 23rd, 2008 at 9:50 pmSorry for my assumption, Alexis.
I have found myself a little distracted walking, like standing with a “Walk” signal and staring into space grooving…
It’s just so new to me I guess, as I’ve really only ever used in gym or plugged (IPod) into speaker docking station.
May 23rd, 2008 at 10:12 pmhaha no worries
i just dont want Central Division Cop to pull me over assuming i’m wearing my headphones while i’m driving.
May 24th, 2008 at 12:30 amI’m more concerned about those folks chatting on their cel phone while riding a bike or driving.. eep! Those folks need to get a hands free adapter!
May 24th, 2008 at 2:35 amYeah the cell phone junkies are dangerous or at least annoying, even walking if they aren’t paying attention.
I was just joking with Alexis as I actually used to wear my Sony Walkman headphones driving (dates me- way before any law).
