Out With The Old, In With The New (Sort Of…)

I figured it was about time to buy some new athletic shoes- the ones I wear when I do the 10 mile walks / day. I usually stick with things that I like, and I was going to buy same shoes again, but then I thought maybe a different style would perhaps fit slightly different and would not rub the blistered, sore parts of my feet (I in no way blame my ASICS Gel-Rocket IIIs for giving me bilsters they served me well for a long time until I upped the intensity of the dog walks). But Nike is always a solid brand, so I decided to try a new pair of Air Zooms.

The only problem is (besides I need my sungleases to look at these WHITE shoes- to think my old ASICS used to be that white…), these shoes need to be “broken in” and give me more pain than just wearing my old kicks… I guess they’ll stay in the closet until my feet heal.

Blisters Keep Popping

If you have never tried ZAPPOS.COM for buying shoes- dress shoes, casual, tennis shoes, you are missing out. And now they carry designer clothes (Hugo Boss, Tommy Bahama, Jean Paul Gaultier, etc) and they have sunglasses.

One thing that sets zappos.com apart from the competition is their level of customer service. They ship very fast, and they include a UPS “call tag” so if you don’t like what you ordered, you just put it back in box, stick on label, and call UPS to pick it up. No hassle returns. And listen to this- I ordered 3 pairs of shoes and a shirt on Saturday night at around 10pm, and selected standard shipping. They replied later Saturday that they were expediting my order as I was a repeat customer- I don’t know how they did it, but the order shipped Sunday and I received it Monday at noon. WOW!!!

Wow! That is good service. I’ll check that place out.

I buy my sneakers a Blends. I know the prices are a bit high, but they carry limited editions not available on line. They also carry high tops, my preference.

I hope those feet heal soon!

blends.com?? do you get them to custom make a Nike or something for you, Joe? I’ve seen a line of Nike’s where you can pick colors, add names, etc- do you know what I mean?

So I’m sure you like the “old school” kicks at RIF LA in Little Tokyo. They have so many styles that I remember wanting in grade school/high school. But the prices are crazy.

It’s funny how life goes in circles- I grew up wearing Converse Chuck Taylors for skateboarding and now they are “hip” again- even for squating as they are so flat… go figure.

Blends is over on 4th Street across the street from Lost Souls Cafe (halfway between Main & Spring Streets) I can’t afford those shoes but they look good on Joe. =)

I’ll have to look at Blends- I didn’t realize they were so close.

Meeko- 4:13 am posting??? What’s up with that, you insomniac girl??? I slept like a baby last night w/ 2 margaritas at Redwood providing the extra “help”.

I hope your move continues smoothly and that you can soon bring your cats to your new place. More pics of your cats, please!
