I Get Asked For A TV Interview…
Yesterday evening at around 6pm I was walking White Dog over in Little Tokyo on 2nd St in front of Office Depot, and a lady reached right for Isis and wanted to pet her and play with her- I love “pet friendly” people. Then I notice that she’s standing by one of those “satellite trucks” you see all around City Hall, and a guy is getting a big camera out of it. After some minor chit-chat about dogs, I casually ask what they are filming, thinking it was a documentary or something, and she said “we’re interviewing people- hey, let me interview you- the questions are easy..” at which point she was flipping through a steno pad of handwritten stuff.
My brain is racing- what’s this for? I look like crap, all sweaty and nasty from long hot day- and I say “no thanks, but what’s interview about?” It turns out it was a Channel 5 KTLA news van, and I believe it was Marta Waller who I was speaking with, getting ready to interview “people on the street” about traffic congestion downtown. Kinda ho-hum, glad I didn’t get “on camera” for that. Now if they wanted my opinion on Mayor Villarviagra traveling to Miami to support Obama this weekend (after previously being absent for 20 days supporting Hillary), or did I think the Mayor should have gone to Israel with 30+ entourage to learn about their security against terrorism, I would have definitely put my $.02 in
It’s cool though that after 15 months of passing dozens of reporters interviewing folks on the street, I finally get asked, and only because the reporter liked my dog… White Dog is the real star!
Hey, I think you can handle the hard questions as well as the easy ones! Don’t let them softball you. Next time do the interview.
