White Dog Takes Off Her Winter Coat
On our midday walk, with temperature approaching 100-degrees, White Dog was not a happy girl. Not only does she try to stop and sit in shady grass, now she will PULL me to the small area of shade by buildings as we are walking down the sidewalks. And she will not sit for more than 5 seconds- it must hurt her butt, because “sit” is the one command she obeys (usually).
We were in Little Tokyo and I remember Grace at Muttropolitan saying she accepts walk-ins, so we walked into Honda Plaza and were happy to find out Grace had time to give Isis a shave- not a trim but a full-on shave, like a short hair JRT.
A couple hours later and Isis is shy a few pounds of white hair (this will be great for my dark clothes as she sheds considerably, something she was not supposed to do). Grace says she was well behaved and didn’t bark at other dogs, but I think Grace was just being nice.
It’s kind of fun when your dog gets clipped short once in a while, kind of like painting a car and you feel like it’s a different car… (that probably doesn’t make sense to any of you but that’s how I feel).
Go see Grace at Muttropolitan if your “Rover” needs to cool off a little…

white dog looks good. today i went on a walk to the california mart to drop off a file to one of our clients and i brought captain with me. Captain was sooo hot. I felt bad for his poor little paws. Captain would walk really really slow in the shade and then when we hit the sun he would try to spring to the next shady spot. I think i’m going to be taking captain to get shaved down too..
June 20th, 2008 at 6:33 pmAww- that’s cool you can take Captain for walks while you work. But yes, it was hot! I could feel the temperature by ankles was like 10-degrees hotter than by my head- the heat radiating off the sidewalk was nuts. It’s funny how fast dogs learn to figure out where it’s cooler to walk… Captain will love you for the shave, and you’ll have a velvety-smooth pooch for awhile- do it!
June 20th, 2008 at 7:06 pmIsis is even cuter with her hair cut! She’s a real doll.
June 21st, 2008 at 11:56 pmShe’s so cute!!! Your photo of her makes me want to pick her up and hug her.
The groomed look definitely suits her. And if she’s more comfortable during the warm summer months, so much the better.
June 22nd, 2008 at 1:26 amThanks Joe-
The shave still didn’t help much in the heat yesterday as we stopped ever 20 feet when she could find shade.
I like the “profile” pic of Ruby over at Meeko’s - talk about strong features! She’s a goddess (like Isis)
June 22nd, 2008 at 8:26 amHi Jill- yes Isis is definitely huggable- just like velvet. It’s fun having a “new” dog once-in-a-while.
Thanks for stopping by…
