I’m 100% Fine (Take THAT, Docs That Wanted To Slice Me Open)
I wanted to wait a few days to make sure all was well, but I believe I am 100% back to the normal, healthy person I was before the immense constipation I had (”small intestine blockage that could be a tumor”). I don’t want to gloat, as I’m a big believer in Karma- maybe I did not need surgury because of all the $$$ I’ve given to the poor homeless souls that sleep on the streets. But I just dodged having my stomach cut open from my breast-bone to my belly-button, having 5-7 days of recovery in the hospital, and weeks of not being able to work out. Not to mention how much $$$ it would have cost to have the surgury.
My diet always involves lots of extra fiber supplementation and essential fatty acids added (extra virgin olive oil is my favorite), along with plenty of water and crystal light (yes, diet drinks are OK to drink and will not give you cancer- ha ha ha). So I upped these supplements/fluids and guess what? I am back to my “regular” ways and feeling great.
The experience at Good Samaritan Hospital was good for me- I actually like getting stuck like a pin-cushion now- blood tests every 3 hours are good for confirming what I believe- I am in pretty good shape.
So a quick review:
Intestinal Blockage- bad constipation; very uncomfortable and worth visiting ER to have the tube through nose and down to stomach to relieve pressure, but not requiring surgury.
Abnormally High Calcium Blood Serum Level: may have been due to a course of T3 that was quit 4-6 weeks before symptoms, but this mysteriously disappeared as later blood tests showed normal calcium levels.
Spleen Fungal Infection: Only 5-10% of people who got this infection showed any signs of it; the symptoms are so common that I’ve had all of them at one time or another. I will not worry about this.
Reduced Kidney Function: Surgeon doc did not seem worried about this, as he did not even think I needed to adjust my lifestyle because of this diagnosis. I will monitor this as dialysis is not something I would want to live with.
And, in case any one knows docs at Good Samaritan, maybe they can pass this info along to the docs that laughed at me as I could not tell them the exact name of what I was taking when I was out of my mind in pain:
-
2-ene 17a-methyl-etioallocholan-2-ene-17b-ol (10mg 2x / day)
2a,17a-dimethyl-17b-hydroxy-5a-androstan-3-one (10mg 2x / day)
4-chloro-17a-methyl-andro-4-ene-3,17b-diol (25mg 2x / day)
And yes, the above are very liver-toxic, so I take the liver-support supplement:
-
Liv 52 DS (Himalaya brand) 5x / day
(What’s in Liv 52? Google is your best friend…)
I strongly believe Liv 52 is why my liver enzymes were only slightly elevated (which is normal for someone who weight-trains).
So, now back to our regularly scheduled blogging…
Well, there goes your chance for a really cool scar.
I’m glad everything turned out O.K., Eric. It was still all a nightmare, though, so I hope you do something really good for yourself for having been through all that.
2a,17a-dimethyl-17b-hydroxy-5a-androstan-3-one? How could you have forgotten that one? Fortunately I have good old fashioned nandrolone, so I don’t have to deal with those fancy names.

July 6th, 2008 at 9:50 pmJoe- your comments always make me laugh! No “cool scar”- thank you!!!
The “good thing” I’m doing is enjoying the food I want(but being careful and within reason- keeping fiber supps and olive oil high in protein drinks).
Now that I think about it, the carne asada at Senior Fish may have been what “plugged me up”- I am very bad about “inhaling” food and not chewing enough.
Damn you- the government wants to protect me from that nasty nadrolone and testosterone… stuff that’s 1/4 the price and 10x safer than the “legal” stuff I and Barry Bonds take- we have an associate in common
