New LAPD HQ Renderings Reveal 1 Acre “Park”
Last week many downtown blogs revealed renderings of the 1 acre park that will be part of the north side of the LAPD HQ. The strange part is the city is still asking for RFPs for the park area- I guess this means that this park was not part of the currently way-overbudget $437 million that is now expected to be spent on the structure (remember, it’s not done by any means, so there is still time for more cost overruns).

And after taking away sidewalks in my neighborhood for over 2 years with no end in sight, it’s good to know that :
It’s all part of a plan “to make the area more pedestrian-friendly,” according to Eva Kandarpa, press secretary for City Council member Jan Perry
This is my favorite site describing the new park- you MUST read the comments as they are hilarious (no, I did not comment, anonymous or otherwise, on the posting below):

“Will we share this park with the homeless?”
No, the homeless will be sent to your neighborhood when the HQ opens as part of the give-back to the rest of LA for dumping homeless downtown for 35 years.

Whatever, I just want the goddam sidewalk back, it takes waaaay to long to get to Groundwork.

I hate homeless people. They suck.

I hate people who hate homeless people. They suck big time.

I wish homeless people would go live somewhere else.

can someone tell me honestly, will politicians actively fight to make sure that an Applebees doesn’t go in?
