The Redwood Bar Has Plenty Of Booty!
After living 2 blocks from The Redwood Bar & Grill for over 16 months now, I must say I’ve only been in there a few times, and it always seemed dull and dreary (well, it IS very dark, with it’s pirate’s cavern theme and no windows). I’m sure it does a good lunch crowd with LA Times and numerous law firms nearby, and it did win an award for best burger downtown (albeit a $12 burger + $2 for bacon, tax included). But I just never felt a cool vibe there- and I never stayed until 11pm or so when I heard it got crazier.
But recently they’ve upped the ante, and started having bands almost every night of the week (see the Calendar on their website). Also, they’ve started opening at 11am Saturday and Sunday, serving a brunch menu as well as their regular lunch menu. This is perfect for me- as I love my brunches, especially after a hard weekend workout. Their web site does not mention the brunch, nor the menu, but I scanned it for you- and I can vouch for the French Toast being amazing (the other time I had brunch their I ended up getting the burger as I was also craving the sweet potato fries they make- tasty!)
If you’re looking for a casual place with great bartenders, hot waitresses, and some fun patrons, check out their happy hour- I was there last night and again at noon today and I am getting into the relaxing, cool darkness that is The Redwood (there are also a few table outside if you want a brighter, albeit noisier, view of downtown).
