Pitfire Pizza Just Got
86′ed
Pitfire Pizza has always had a bad case of “the rules change depending upon who is working”. Tonite was the final straw with them- they honestly are not that good that I ever need to visit them again.
Tonite I went down to get the happy hour pizza special- half off from 4pm - 7pm. First I ordered the monthly special- Spicy Hawaiian. I was told by the cashier that the special only covered regular menu pizzas, which is funny as I’ve been going twice a week for months for the Happy Hour, and about half the time I get the special pizza. Ok, so no big deal, I order the Sausage pizza, to go, with a $5 beer for while I wait, which is what I always get, and why I go down and get pizza myself (they used to deliver beer to my loft then decided that was against the rules- funny how Liliya’s delivers beer and Soju, and Rocket Pizza even delivers beer and wine). I was told the special is only for dine-in, at which point I was pissed and asked to speak to the manager.
Some fat slob comes over who I had never seen, despite eating at the place for the past 16 months- he says “he lives there”- maybe with his hand in the cookie jar, but I haven’t seen him. He explains that the special is dine-in, and I ask why I have been taking it to my loft for the past few months. He says special has only been on for a week or two- bullshit. There are comments in my blog from Brian telling me about the special from months ago.
At this point I am very fed up with the whole Pitfire experience- they should go out of their way to treat the tenants better, as we Higgins folks generally will use a place in our building before ordering from say, Rocket Pizza. Liliya’s even goes so far as to give 10% discount, plus they give me free samplers of Soju, Sake, and Asian wines. I guess Pitfire does not understand much about customer service- they are permantanty on my shit-list, and I will be happy to direct my busiiness to Rocket Pizza who honestly makes better food with much better garlic flavor.
Thanks for nothing, Pitfire.
I can’t say I’m surprised. As much as we like the food the service gets worse and worse every time we are there. H usually orders a salad and ask that it come out first but for some reason this is not possible. They’ve over-charged us a few times as well and for some reason is takes a really long time for the food to come out.
August 26th, 2008 at 7:20 pmHey B- I can’t find the post where you told me about the special- but remember, that was quite awhile ago. And this idiot tried to tell me the special has “only been a couple of weeks”. I can’t believe they make such a big deal, especially when I’m paying full price for their most expensive beer while I wait (and I tip). Well, good riddance to bad rubbish…
August 26th, 2008 at 7:30 pmi actually applied there a month or two ago. Im looking for another serving job, anyways during the interview they didn’t ask any questions about my serving experience or anything, they only asked what kind of restaurants i liked visiting and what i liked to do for fun. I thought that pitfire was going to be something like BJs but it definitely is not. The manager was telling me how they wanted to generate more business during the dinner hours. but judging from your story, i dont think its gonna happen.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:50 pmAlexis- your interview sounds like I’d imagine the Pitfire management to work… dumbasses. You are lucky you didn’t get a job there as I’m sure there are barely any tips- people pay at cashier (and tip jar is there), get their own drinks- cook brings pizzas out.
If you’re still think about waitressing I’ll ask around as I tour the downtown happy hour scene- lots of cool places I would have liked to bartend at when I was younger. BTW- what is BJs?
August 27th, 2008 at 3:44 pmBJ’s Bar & Grill
it’s a chain..
August 27th, 2008 at 8:26 pmWow- I thought I knew ALL places like BJs- I just checked out their Corporate web site- I can’t believe I’ve never heard of them. But Pitfire sure ain’t no BJs, that’s for sure… Maybe Weiland Brewery is more like BJs (I know there’s only 2 Weilands, but for downtown it seems similar). Alexis dodged a bullet by not getting hired at Pitfire…
August 27th, 2008 at 9:17 pmdang!!! you’ve never heard of BJs?? you have to try one of their pizookies!! they are the best and the pizza is pretty good too.
if you hear of any serving positions opening up let me know!!!
Thanks soo much!
August 28th, 2008 at 11:20 pmHey Alexis- I can’t wait to try BJs- the deep dish pizza sounds good- well, it all sounds good!
The Far Bar would like to interview you if you are interested. Part time, partially outside but more of a bar w/ food than a restaurant w/ a bar. E-mail me at isis_hb@yahoo.com if you want to know more details / contact info.
But trust me, I will be at 5 places that need a good server/waitress in the next 5 days- so I keep asking around
August 29th, 2008 at 8:45 pmHate Pitfire, dislike electric ovens from rocket. Your best bet for pizza downtown is Los Angeles Pizza Company. I know it has mixed reviews but you got to find out for yourself like I did.!
September 16th, 2008 at 11:19 amTry the Chavez Ravine or the Angelino. real gas deck oven pizza and an excellent crust
