It’s funny how things converge when living downtown- I was just talking with Rick- lead singer/guitar of the band Collinz Room (and bartender-extraordinaire at The Edison), about his gig at J-Lounge tomorrow night (Collinz Band will hit the stage at 8pm for a 1 hour set). Rick is a very cool guy, and does [...]

Yes, that’s right, I’m posting something about politics without being 100% negative. I hate politics and still believe the joke that “how can you tell when a politician is lying- when their lips are moving”. But I also believe in listening to smart people and learning from them, so with that said, I [...]

Wednesday, October 8th, Dog Walk Downtown is celebrating it’s 1st Anniversary with a party at Pershing Square (there will be no dog walk this time- just a party). Ken, founder of Dog Walk, dog park advocate, and father of Dodger Dog and Aggie, has put together quite an event. Special guests include Jan [...]

A few little updates about places I like to go to…
Redwood Bar and Grill has stopped serving the Brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday- such a waste! They are still open the same hours (11am on Saturday, 10am on Sunday), just with the “standard” menu. I don’t understand why they don’t serve a [...]

Thursday night from 6pm to 9pm, dozens of dogs and their owners invaded J-Lounge’s 10,000 sq ft outdoor patio for a Fur-Licious party thrown by Pussy and Pooch- the upscale dog botique that has many social events for pets.
This was their second Fur-Licious event- I had missed the first one but really wanted [...]

As I took White Dog on a walk around City Hall today, I ran into fences set up around the whole South area (Main St. to 1st St. to Spring St.)- but I was pleasantly surprised that they were left open so I could walk through as I always do.
As I get near Spring St., [...]

An incredibly well-researched article appeared in this weeks’ L.A. Weekly newspaper. Reporter Patrick Range McDonald covered all the bases on why Tony Villar is a terrible mayor for Los Angeles. I have thought many of the things that Mr. McDonald writes about, but never been able to put my thoughts into words, and [...]

An old freind of mine from the South Bay, DGlobeTrotter, adopted a pair of Maltese dogs on Saturday. She’s helped me raise my last Jack Russell, “Jackie”, and been around since Isis was a 4-week old palm-full.
I was very excited for her, as she loves dogs and I know they will add [...]

Well, the big Heros show taping turned out to be a real fiasco- not only was the main parking lot for the building tenants shut down for 4 days, but the erected grand stand, scaffolding with lights, and the simulated red carpet, complete with 200+ people yelling and screaming, were enough to push some tenants [...]

Early Saturday evening I was at The Far Bar for a couple of plates of sliders and a Sapporo beer. It was early still, and I was mostly b.s.ing with the bartenders Sky and Edgar, when a guy come over and asked if I worked out at LA Athletic Club- I said yes, and [...]
