J-Lounge Benefit Concert Tomorrow Night

It’s funny how things converge when living downtown- I was just talking with Rick- lead singer/guitar of the band Collinz Room (and bartender-extraordinaire at The Edison), about his gig at J-Lounge tomorrow night (Collinz Band will hit the stage at 8pm for a 1 hour set). Rick is a very cool guy, and does not keep up much with about where he is playing- he just wants to bring his “A” game whether it’s hundreds of people or thousands.

So then I see this post on Angelenic.com about what the event is- a benefit for The Challengers Boys and Girls Club- located at 49th and Vermont in South Los Angeles.

Now I’m definitely going to check out Collinz Room live at a cool club- outside under the stars. Go to Angelenic NOW to try to win free tickets- but if you pay, it looks like your $10 will go to a good cause.

Here’s a link to Collinz Room MySpace page, with 4 of their songs- the first one, Remedy, is so great- let it grow on you, as those are the best songs, right?

(I’m not going to even post a link to the jpresents.com web site in a protest against shitty flash sites- I wish web designers would wake up and stop using flash as the main display/navigation system on a web site- procede there only if you can handle frustration).

    hey E,

it looks like A & I missed you at The Edison on Friday night. We were there from 5:30 to about 7pm near the back bar. Hopefully we’ll catch you next time.

    D-

Damn! Sorry I missed you and A; I hung out at the “regular” bar as I know the bartenders and wanted to get some food at the bar. I did not see any downtowners I knew other than Edison regulars. Funny how the mixer kept promoting 40% drinks but that is the way it is every weeknight until 8pm, so no real value to RSVP’ing that night…

Hopefully we’ll meet up again at 1st Anniversary Dog Walk.

Did you get a chance to hear Gogol Bordello?

    Awesome band!

I didn’t get a chance to work the Tour De’ Weekly. I was up at the Burning Man gig in The Cornfields.

Hey Officer! I missed Gogol Bordello as I was at the stage for Mars Volta (who I thought absolutely sucked). The Cornfield thing looked interesting “on paper”- was the turnout good? Too bad you didn’t work the “Hillary” detail so I could get the inside scoop…

The inside scoop? More like the inside “poop”.

I elected not to work the Rodham-Clinton event. I do not wish to consort with known terrorist sympathizers.

That being said, The Cornfield event was pretty well attended. We had about 2,500 plus people there.

It was a good assortment of hippies, yippies, greenies and conspiracy theory folk.

Definitely made for some hearty conversations!

I had an awesome time to say the least.
