Senator Hillary Clinton @ The Edison Next Saturday

Yes, that’s right, I’m posting something about politics without being 100% negative. I hate politics and still believe the joke that “how can you tell when a politician is lying- when their lips are moving”. But I also believe in listening to smart people and learning from them, so with that said, I may attend this “Mother Of All Obama Downtown LA Victory Fund Events” next weekend. I think it’s pretty cool that The Edison was able to host this event, and I consider it a “plus” for the building- it’s going to be crazy seeing the Secret Service folks doing their thing…

The entry fee is a little steep at $500 to start, but I’d rather spend my money at an event like this than some of the other I’ve heard of. And NO, I am not really a Democrat; I was raised Republican, but like many, am pissed at Republicans in every level of government, just like I’m pissed at Democrats. This is going to be an interesting election though, and I’m going to be an informed voter.

I hope you readers are enjoying/enjoyed the debate. I took a break from Downtown Mixer / Happy Hour at Edison to come post this and am going back for round-two of drinks and maybe a Crab Salad this time (I had a Lobster Corn Dog early which was ok but nothing spectacular to my taste-buds). You aren’t missing much (yet) at the Downtown Mixer, but the normal Edison “after work” crowd is in full swing…

EDIT by Skidrowdude- I took out link to movie- this isn’t meant to be TOO political of a thread- just about it’s cool that Hilllary is going to be speaking in Higgins- it’s funny as many Edison workers don’t know about it, and they still need to be screened by Secret Service to work at the event. But here you go Jody- here’s the rest of your post…. now play nice!

Debates are one and so far in the first Half hour, he stuttered 9 time, He is agreeing with McCain alot on issues just like he did, with Hillary before and stole and adopted all her agenda,
Now they are talking about Russia,
and Obama has the first question , he nervous he does not know what to say, because the NEED CNN to give him all the question last so he can agree and or copy some of McCain issues.
I am sure Campbell Brown wolf blitzer, Anderson Dick lip, will agree Obama will still do a great job then say Obama was not treated fair,
Obama Really wishes CNN is doing this dabate, so they can give Obama all the answers a week before the debate, ,, than make sure Obama was comfortable, and give McCain all hard question, ,,,, watch how CNN use it secret weapon Cambell Brown the New Kieth Oberman to attack McCain and Palin, now stopl CNN so funny no bias no bull ,, and CNN the best political team for Obama should be there slogan, what is with the Obama campaign texting everyone to watch CNN for the debats,, Like they said in the real news,, CNN is on Obama Payroll

jody obviously didn’t watch the same debate that the rest of the world saw. much like jody, pundits will spin all they want, but according to cbs instant polls:

40% of uncommitted voters who watched the debate tonight thought Barack Obama was the winner. 22% thought John McCain won. 38% saw it as a draw.

68% of these voters think Obama would make the right decision
about the economy. 41% think McCain would.

49% of these voters think Obama would make the right decisions about Iraq. 55% think McCain would.

Who did the best job in the debate?
    Obama 51%
    McCain 38%

    Who Would Better Handle Economy?
    Obama 58%
    McCain 37%

    Who Would Better Handle Iraq?
    Obama 52%
    McCain 47%

but don’t worry jody, your candidate might still have a chance, what with all the voter disenfranchisement in key states that the republicans are engaging in.

Thanks Celia for the stats- I still don’t give a rats-ass about them, as the media is a mess too… but I respect your opinion as you definitely pay more attention than I do. See you at The Edison next weekend? :-)

Woah…! I just realized that next Saturday is the Detour Festival- right in front of Higgins and all around City Hall. The attendees will be in for a special surprise if they don’t behave while the “men in black” are trying to clear the area for Hillary’s arrival… this is going to be one fun day!

I am bummed as I honestly was considering the $500 to listen to Hillary, but then I remembered Detour festival where I can see Cut Copy for free (LA Weekly gave Detour tix to Higgins dwellers). It’s a pretty simple decision…

I was talking with an Edison waitress and she said whoever is working will have to get screened by Secret Service- a little more strictly than who gets to work for the Heros premier I would guess :-)

P.S. Celia- I really appreciated your post last night w/ the debate statistics- I re-read my post and it may have come across wrong. I know you are working hard on Obama stuff, and I want to learn from you and others, as it’s damn confusing to choose, and it’s a pretty important time to make a good choice (the cynic in me has to say that I’m not happy w/ either choice, but then again, I could not tell you who I’d be happy with).

Thanks for helping me understand what the hell is going on with these campaigns. Your are one smart, motivated lady.

I hear that all the bums on Skid Row will be voting for Osama.

I’ll be sure to direct them to the event.

I’m sure Rodham-Clinton will be delighted to see her fans.

    Help is on the way!!!!

LOL Officer- all the “big shot donors” are going to love being in the middle of 30,000 punk-revelers, pissing in alleys, on cars in parking lots and creating a monster traffic jam as Detour Festival will be in full force about when Hillary arrives. No need to send more bums unless you have a few to spare…

That’s right, I forgot about that show!

I have a CD from one of the headliners (Gogol Bordello). They are a punk rock band, with gypsy/folk leanings. Very original and entertaining.

The fauxhawks will be out in force.

The not-so Secret Service will have their hands full to say the least.

I hope the Clintonistas doesn’t mind “The Smell”….
