Hey, My New Contract Starts At 420!
Well, it’s not really a new contract, just “moonlighting” as it will never pay the bills, but it’s fun as I’m helping a small company make use of my knowledge of various practices I’ve implemented at over 30 Fortunre 1000 companies. Why did I say “420″? Well, it’s in the name of the corporation, and here’s the history behind 420.
A friend who’s a personal trainer has a client that owns a successful Medical Marijuana Screening corporation- currently 3 locations. It’s funny as my trainer friend needs to focus more on nutritional consulting as the owner-lady has a ravenous appetite (guess why???) and is trying to get in shape for her upcoming marriage. But the owner had fall-out with partner, who took database of clients and shut down web site. She got a public web site up fast, but she wants to automate all the “back office” stuff- taking appointments and scheduling doctors, recording payments and balances-due, scanning paper-based documents into the clients’ records, etc. Right now the staff is entering the 4000+ active clients from paper-based records- brutal.
On a side note- they do not dispense weed, just give a photo ID after doctors’ screening/approval. And when the person goes to a “dispensary” to fill the prescription (those are the “seedy” places that are often robbed), the place calls to verify that the person is still a legitimate patient, etc (my client has 24/7 coverage for verifying patients). And of course, the way my client makes money is by making people renew- have a follow-up doctors visit at least once a year- some times multiple times depending on situation. Based on my review of current clients/payment history, she is doing incredible for very little time spent (compared to many start-ups). She could easily gross $1 million this year.
So I’ve been working an average of 3 hours a day (night) on getting her fully automated- it’s been so fun and refreshing as she is open to many of my suggestions for using data for marketing, improving appointment scheduling efficiency, and basic data collection requirements (retaining paper based documents, like patient-authorization forms with signature).
So any of you who need to know who to go to to get a “hook up” for that bad back, or insomnia, let me know (unfortunately I can’t use a “card” as these damn companies I work for screen CONTRACTORS for drugs- NAZIs!).
Check this out, I just got e-mail from the new client wanting iPhone access to the applications- very cool, and I will have some fun doing that. This will be the most workflow-enabled, automated 420 club in the country!
January 6th, 2009 at 9:26 pmdo they have a downtown location?
January 6th, 2009 at 11:27 pm4000+ clients? That does sound like a nice little biz.
Whittier and Bakersfield? huh…Is the acronym for your client T.H.C.? (no, seriously)
January 8th, 2009 at 1:30 pmSuch a worthy cause … Have you considered doing it pro bono?
January 8th, 2009 at 7:07 pmDude- it’s not a dispensary, just the medical clinic. And I guess there’s some law where you can’t be both, as she’s trying to get my personal trainer friend to open a dispensary near her main office, as she doesn’t like current ones.
My friend is seriously considering it, although I think it’s risky and said if anything she she consider doing an HRT clinic as I know financials on those places are great too, as long as you stay within the law (420 dispensaries get raided frequently as fed law doesn’t recognize them and then you are screwed).
Wanna be a partner with her?
