Alright, after my list of my supplement’s ingredients, and subsequent posts by Rich and Dona, I thought I better get my blog back on track. So let me share some of my favorite things with you, going from soft to hard, so to speak
Do you believe how bad 97.1 is now? At first i was like “10,000 songs in a row” - cool! But I swear they are playing the same 20 over and over- every hour. It sucks so bad, and they haven’t updated their website, what the hell are they thinking? And still paying Tom- might as well just kept him on the air until his contract was up.. dumbass programmers.
I was so bummed that station switched formats…I’m a talk radio junkie, have been since a teenager (I’m a geek). I hated the Leykis 101 drivel, but it was entertaining at times, and Tom had some pretty good shows when he talked about other issues. I really dug the other shows too, and will miss them. Do we really need MORE of the same top 40 crap on the air? Grr…
Hey Lola- yeah, I guess we don’t fit Tom’s “demo” - I’m way too old, and you’re a chick Leykes 101 was good advice for a 21 year old though… he’s definitely an entertainer. It will be interesting to see where he lands- I hope he gets back to more intellectual stuff.
Do you remember when he did more political talk radio on an AM station here? He is super intelligent when he wants to be. I too am a talk radio junkie- I leave KFI on all night while I sleep.
I must admit that it was very cool and refreshing how 97.1 management handled the format change- letting the hosts do a classy last show- Frosty, Heidi and Franks video on their home page of them packing up and driving off is especially touching.
They even put up a page for “what are they up to now?”:
In these times of mass firings, it’s nice to see some management have a little class and not be so cold. Hell, even though my Encino contract is done, I still have a security card-access pass, a computer account, and GoToMyPC access w/o restrictions. They consider me part of the team still, which is nicer than having your accounts deleted 5 min. after you walk out the door…
Tom used to be on KFI too. That station and 97.1 were the first two presets on my car radio. I listened to pretty much all the regular shows on Free FM with the exception of Danny Bona-douche-ey and those awful weekend infomercial shows. My favorites were Adam Carolla and FHF. I listen to the podcasts now, hoping they find a new home soon for me to tune into. I thought it was a nice touch to let them say goodbye too. Apparently that’s rare in radio. Although it did allow Frank Kramer to blame the whole switchover on Tom Leykis because (according to Frank) Tom refused a pay cut to save the station like all the other hosts had agreed to do….drama til the end.
Without them, I’m having to tune into KFI and KCRW more. I’ve always listened to the John & Ken Show (”Heads on a stick!!’) and would switch back between them and Tom Leykis in the afternoon. KCRW is more informative….but a wee bit too bland for me.
I don’t know how you can sleep to KFI at night, with that kooky Coast to Coast w/ Greg Noory guy…I think listening to that would give me nightmare of an alien abduction and a government conspiracy to hide my disappearance…
Great stuff!! That last photo has me inspired. Nice tight buns above. But I gotta stay off of carbs.. if you know what I mean.
February 23rd, 2009 at 2:31 amGreat redemption post. How could we ever have doubted you.
You are completely full of testosterone, my man!
You may be one of the only sources now that Tom Leykus is off the air!
