St. Patrick’s Day Parade Snarls Downtown Traffic
I kind of forgot it was St. Patrick’s Day today- I am working at home today, supposed to have a 9:30 am conference call with IBM about a software bug I can’t erradicate. They postponed it for an hour, and then another hour… I still haven’t heard from them and it’s good as all hell is breaking loose outside, and it would be hard to talk on the phone.
I finally had to take Isis out for a walk at 11:30 am and WOW- what a mess Historic Core is! Main St. has parade going from Cesar Chavez to 5th St. the over to Pershing Square, and all the streets are snarled with cars going NOWHERE! I swear, it looked like a scene from “Breaking Down” movie where people were just getting pissed and going the wrong way on one-way streets, honking, etc.
When I got back I shot this quick video from the loft- parade had already been going on for about an hour and was just about done. My 420 client is meeting with her lawyer at 2pm today and going to meet with me first- her lawyer’s office is at Gas Company Tower, next to Pershing Square where band and festivities are- I hope she can make it… Yan is stuck in traffic for 2 hours trying to get the 10 minutes from Chinatown to Little Tokyo. Downtown driving sucks most of the time…
I probably should have popped over and checked out the parade. I do miss Chicago and St. Patrick’s day - talk about the ultimate gong show. Easily the best part is when they dye the river green

March 17th, 2009 at 12:22 pmYou can still check out Pershing Square until 7pm… bands, beer, etc.- but definitely not Chi-Town (nor the old Irish bar I worked at in Boulder Colorado- St. Pat’s day started at 6am).
March 17th, 2009 at 12:29 pmI went to Chicago for St. Patty’s Day year before last …and had a blast!! The river turned green/green-ish and the city was electric! I still have the receipt as proof from when me and my three girlfriends had 21 carbombs during lunch.
Don’t ask….
