Sexual Harassment In The Workplace

I always hear “Sexual Harasment” and I know it DOES occur, have seen pretty tame examples of it (I’m sure I’ve seen at least one example of a woman harrassing a man, if only in subtle way over a period of time). I think it is terrible- anything that could possibly affect your employment status (a person has to quit) or affects you to the point you cannot do your job- that is pretty serious, but I have never first-hand seen it.

I guess it recently happened where I work- everyone is sworn to secrecy but I do know the guy basically hit on every lady he was introduced to, beginning with the “undress with eyes” look. Then he zeroed-in on some poor girl so bad that she would not come to work. When he was led out of building, there was a litle situation, and then he did some accessing/hacking systems. The FBI is involved now. D-bags like this get me pissed as they make all guys look bad; idiots are out there, and I ride the bus with them M-F… I hope this never happens to any (lady or guy) friend of mine in the workplace- I’d be damn mad.

EDIT: His cube was next to where I sit- so it was kinda “close to home”

I used to investigate sexual harassment complaints back in the day and it’s amazing what some people will do at work. I mean crazy stuff like calling a secretary into an office, closing the door and dropping his pants. I do think things have gotten better but there’s always going to be knuckleheads who think they can get away with it.

It’s incredibly disruptive when HR has to investigate a sexual harassment complaint, so I know it must be pretty uncomfortable at work right now. I’m betting it’ll calm down in a few weeks.

Li- were you in HR or law enforcement? This guy is SCREWED as by fighting going out and then trying to HACK the systems, he drew the FBIs attention and it has become HUGE deal. Actually it is not really affecting workers- it is on the super-down-low. Only reason I know about it is my agent told me DO NOT TRY TO DATE ANYONE AT THAT CLIENT!!! I asked one of my new friends about it and he would not tell me nationality of offender nor whether harrassed lady was employee or contractor. And he tells me everything. So I just make sure I keep my eyes where they belong…

I was in HR but we had to deal with similar situations, people stealing or trying to wire transfer a bunch of money just before they got fired. It’s crazy because it’s one thing to lose your job and a whole nother level of screwed if you get caught trying to send $2 million to an off-shore account (true story).

Sounds like you’ll have to do online personals to find dates, lol.

It sounds like your HR department was pretty exciting.

    As for:

do online personals to find dates

Been there, done that- it’s a wonderful thing…

Hey, I met my husband through Nerve personals back when they were good. And in LA I think it’s probably the easiest/best way to meet people.

Congratulations to you and your husband for proving that on-line dating can work. I almost married someone from match.com- best lady I ever knew.

My fav was match.com- good ability to search for atributes that mattered to me (body type, ethnicity, miles from me, children, age, etc). Some sites really suck though- I think only about 10% of people on singlesnet.com are “real”- staff sends emails from tons of fake people to keep people interested- it is a terrible site.

when I used to work at home and eat out always I would date 2-3 times a week from ther. NEVER had a bad experience- maybe not compatible, but still had good conversation and company for dinner. Now since I go to bed early and watch my diet, I am pretty boring :-(
